Emerald Ash Borer
|
Emerald ash borer is a relatively new condition that affects only ash trees. The emerald ash borer is the larvae from an emerald ash beetle. The larvae damages the vascular system in ash trees causing decline and death in infested trees. Treatment is available for trees prior to damage, but little can be done post infestation. Some treatments are applied annually while others are injected into the tree and provide protection up to three years. Infected trees will show signs of decline similar to the picture on this page. Most of Northern and Western Ohio has been considered quarantined, prohibiting the transportation of ash products outside of the area. EcoTree Services can determine what if any treatment is right for your ash trees as well as dispose of ash products in an approved manner.
